The Kidde KF21R (Firex Sentry series) is a mains-powered Grade D1 optical smoke alarm featuring a 10-year sealed rechargeable lithium backup battery, designed to provide early detection of slow, smouldering fires in residential properties without requiring routine battery replacements.
Certified to BS EN 14604:2005, the alarm incorporates an optical sensing chamber with an internal bug screen and automatic dust compensation to maintain operational stability and reduce nuisance alarms triggered by dust accumulation.
Built for efficient installation and retrofitting, the unit features a Quick-Fit slide-on mounting base with cable retention management and a 150mm flared base plate that conceals existing ceiling markings. The alarm supports hardwired interlinking with up to 24 compatible Kidde and Firex smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide devices.
Centralised system control is provided via a large Test/Hush button, complemented by an active alarm memory function, automatic reset, tamper-proof base locking clip, and mini-trunking knockouts. Encased in a flame-retardant housing (150mm x 53mm), the alarm includes an 85dB sounder at 3 metres and carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
