Fire Alarm Cable
Fire-resistant cable is a type of electrical cable designed to maintain its structural and electrical integrity for a specified period of time in the event of a fire. These cables are made of materials that are fire-resistant, slow-burning and are designed to prevent the spread of fire by limiting the release of toxic fumes and smoke. The use of fire-resistant cable helps to ensure the continuity of power and communication during a fire, supporting the safe evacuation of building occupants and helping the fire-fighting efforts.
We always hold good stock levels of fire resistant cable from leading brands such as Prysmian's FP200 Gold.
Prysmian FP200 Gold is a 'standard' fire resistant cable as defined by fire alarm and emergency lighting British Standards and the original alternative to mineral insulated cable. It is a tough, durable and dressable essential systems cable - easy to install and terminate. FP200 Gold has excellent data and signal transmission characteristics which makes it ideal for voice alarm, addressable and networked systems.
Prysmian FP PLUS is the 'enhanced', hard skin, dressable fire-resistant cable most commonly needed for fire alarm and emergency lighting circuits as defined by BS5839-1 and BS5266-1. FP PLUS is approved by third parties BASEC and LPCB in accordance with the requirements of BS5839-1 and BS5266-1 for enhanced fire resisting cables. FP PLUS uses Insudite, unique to Prysmian, which provides a tough, damage-resistant insulation that outperforms other commonly available soft-silicone fire resistant cables.
