The Aico Ei176 comprises an optical smoke alarm with a flashing strobe light and vibrating pillow pad, for alerting deaf or hard of hearing users when the alarm is activated. It is mains powered, with a rechargeable lead acid back-up battery which will give approximately 7 days of power in standby mode in the event of a mains power failure. It may be interconnected via hard-wiring with up to 11 other compatible Aico alarms.
Ideal for installing in dining rooms, hallways, landings or living rooms, the detector will sound at a minimum of 85dB should sufficient smoke enter the unit, and will also activate the strobe and the vibrating pillow pad. The alarm has an optical sensor with a large volume chamber, a large high-photosensitivity photodiode, and an insect-resistant fine mesh screen offering protection against contaminants. Every 40 seconds, the smoke chamber will perform a self-test, and the unit will bleep if a fault is detected.
The strobe uses an intense Xenon tube which flashes once every second (1Hz), and has integrated cable channels and screw slots for wall mounting. The vibrating pillow pad can be mounted under pillows or mattresses, where it will vibrate strongly in a pulsing pattern suitable for waking sleeping occupants. There is a 'Test' button on both the alarm and the strobe unit, so that the status of the product can be quickly and easily verified. It also features an auxiliary jack plug socket for connecting an alarm clock, eliminating the need for multiple vibration pads, plus another auxiliary socket for connecting an additional vibrating pad or strobe if required.
It is CE marked, compliant with BS EN 14604:2005 & BS 5839 Part 6: 2013, and has a manufacturer's warranty period of 5 years.
